The Weight of Salt

A short essay on residue, memory, and what the sea leaves behind.

Salt is what remains after the water has forgotten.

It clings to stone, to skin. It is a kind of memory that you can taste.

You can hear the wall breathing. You can hear, if you listen closely, the salt in the air.

I think about permanence often. Concrete pretends to it. Salt undoes it, quietly, over decades.

Between the two of them, a rhythm.
